I just returned from a trip to Boston, where I was able to visit Walden Pond, Lexington and Concord. I felt some of the spirit of revolution that permeates all three locations - from a revolution against the mind control and arrogance of our civilization to a revolution against those who have taken over our government and refuse to allow us to determine our own destiny.

It is disturbing that the "Tea Party" has created a revolution of the entrenched and moneyed elites against entrepreneurs and working people. It was supposed to be the other way around, but this Tea Party Revolution was sponsored and led by the corporations that have taken over our government and are using it to enrich themselves at the expense of average people.

While the Tea Party movement may have had roots in Ron Paul's 2008 Presidential bid, the shout heard around the world was not populist, but elitist. CNBC's Business News Editor, Rick Santelli, ignited the movement from the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange when he expressed outrage at a government plan to refinance the mortgages of homeowners who have been fleeced by the Wall Street Banks, which had been bailed out after crashing our economy. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Tea_Party_movement) Santelli was speaking for the wealthy investors and the Big Banks, redirecting the populist outrage at the bailouts to protect the elites - not small business and not average citizens.

And the Right-Wing Tea Party Movement was off to the races. Focused on what could have been populist themes, the big-business-worshiping Tea Party Movement portrayed homeowners and small businesses as seeking an unfair advantage that could increase taxes on the wealthy and corporations and undermine the freedom of the criminals who wrecked our economy through their greed, entitlement and privilege.

So, what did this have to do with the American Revolution and the Tea Party? Today, the forces that control our government and prevent us from having a representative democracy are the wealthy elites and corporations, much the same as during our colonial times. Royalists controlled every aspect of life in the colonies, just as business-controlled government does today. However, our taxation is a bit less obvious.

We are taxed when corporations monopolize industries and siphon taxpayer money into their coffers. We are taxed when the wealthy vote themselves lower tax rates and tax shelters so that middle class people need to pay more taxes. We are taxed when corporations are allowed special treatment that make it so that they often don't pay any taxes. The environmental destruction, the health damage, the stress and anxiety, the exploitation they create is borne by the taxpayers, with all of the profits and almost no responsibility going to corporations and elites.

So, the Tea Party Movement is extraordinarily clever in that it presented a revolutionary image to represent what is actually a counter-revolution of the elites. Rather than being patriotic to a democratic, free nation, they are loyal to the ruling elites, who consume, pervert and distort our freedoms and our resources, and our ability to resist the growing domination of the 1% over the 99%.

Are gun rights really the vital issue in our day and times? Will the militia's protect us?  Are the rights of States to control our reproductive freedom and our religious freedom the core problem we face today? Is the deficit caused by unnecessary wars and tax breaks for the rich (loyalists) the problem? Or is the problem the growing power of corporations and the government officials that continue to feed them, that continue to feed the aristocracy of America, the Banksters and Finance thieves, the massive Energy, Military, Health and Food Corporations that own our government?

It is, indeed, time for a Tea Party Movement, but not the one that is selling out our rights and selling our nation out in favor of globalized transnational conglomerates who have absolutely no shred of loyalty to the United States of America. Their only loyalty is to their stock portfolio, to their equity and their personal greed and avarice.

Today's real Tea Party Movement is truly what Occupy is all about. It is not about fighting and demeaning our government, not about starving the "beast" in order to crash our economy and transform the United States into a third world nation. Today's real Tea Party Movement is what I heard when listening at Walden Pond, what I heard at Lexington and Concord.  It is about coming together as a nation, not to trample the middle class for the sake of the wealthy elites, but to rekindle the real values of America, and to see a nation of opportunity, of the American Dream, return to this land.

The real Tea Party Movement is not about the infinite complexity of Wall Street Hedge Funds and Credit Default Swaps that put our economy under the control of massive financial institutions that really don't contribute a damned thing to this nation - because, in their arrogance, they place themselves above the people rather than as a servant to our nation. Occupy is our Tea Party Movement. It is about holding public meetings and discussing the issues, connecting as a diverse citizenry rather than gathering to berate minorities or to tell women what they should do.  Those public meetings were the ones that were banned by the British, the true path towards self-determination that were uniquely American.

Today, the revolution is not about armaments but about retaining our own destiny in a world dominated by technologies that suck us dry, that provide all manner of possibilities, but no manner of dignity livability. Our technology and corporate dominance so far exceed our ability to integrate democratic and compassionate values into our lives that we are left with 330 million treadmills that bear no resemblance to coherent, meaningful lives in tune with our natural world.

Please get involved with the Occupy movement. It is the town meeting that our corporate royalty doesn't want us to have. It is the democratic soul that we all need to rediscover within us, and within our neighbors. It doesn't matter what political party one favors, or what religious or atheistic practice one has. We are not safe in our homes, with our corporatized entertainment and "news" media.  We need to be with our neighbors, in our communities.  Technology is taking us away from our senses, from our natural world, from our families. But not if we don't let it continue to over-stress and degrade our lives. We have a choice. I know. I found it at Walden Pond, but it is there in your park, your forest preserve, your hiking trail, your hunting lodge, your community. This is YOUR America. Occupy it!  Wherever you are, you can Occupy Lexington, Concord and Walden Pond - - because you are an American.
