I was just reflecting on the picture that has emerged about the corruption of our banking elites and how they bought off Congress and regulatory agencies so they could steal our country blind. This wasn't any foreign invader or terrorist. It was our fellow Americans, hiding behind "free market" rhetoric that American voters fell in love with in the early 1980's. The last thing in the world the financial elites wanted was a "free market." They just wanted free rein to plunder. And they got it.
From a longer-range view, it seems really cool how we are getting to witness the crumbling of our empire from immense, unconscionable greed and entrenched, systemic corruption, as semi-informed citizens. As past empire crumbled, the serfs of old probably never really understood the exact lineup of who was ripping them off in which way? However, they understood better than do we, because it was the corporate state that ran roughshod over their lives in every possible regard. Does an elite fancy your daughter? Does your lord need more tax revenues to fight war in the middle east? Done! Things actually haven't changed, except we could stop it and we aren't.
Our access to information, today only make it more painful. We watch the greedy, entitled, bastards stealing our future while Americans fight against each other, brother against brother, in ideological gridlock that has beem carefully engineered to cover the theft of our treasury, our national wealth. The ideology has absolutely no bearing upon the very non-ideological game of GRAND THEFT COUNTRY that is going on among our banksters, corporations and political elite. Middle class, working people, military veterans and the working poor, it is time to re-occupy our country.
